Top Czech photographers show their work

Six hundred eye-catching photographs are exhibited at Prague’s Old Town Hall giving everyone the opportunity to see what the top Czech and Slovak photo journalists captured in 2009 to win the annual prizes of the Czech Press Photo competition that is held in the Czech Republic for the 15th time. Until January 31, 2010, at the Cross Corridor and the Knight’s Hall of the Old Town Hall, more than 40,000 people are expected to visit the exhibition, with many more thousands viewers to see it when it travels abroad.

A Czech brick in the Wall

A group of Czech musicians, all excellent players and respected in their own right, come together to present what is probably the most ambitious and demanding project in Prague’s musical scene this year. The Wall 2009 is a unique concert that takes place at the O2 Arena on October 31, to recreate as a full scale show Pink Floyd's historical double album The Wall, which was released 30 years ago. This mega concert also coincides with the 20th anniversary of Prague’s Velvet Revolution, which highlighted the end of European Communism, and of course the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Who was Rabbi Loew and his Golem?

The name of Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel probably means little if anything outside the Czech Republic but for the people of Prague, the Rabbi is one of the city’s most recognisable figures from the past. But the religious, pedagogical and philosophical legacy of this scholar remains a lively inspiration to this day. This year, September 7 marks the 400th anniversary of the renowned rabbi’s death and the Jewish Museum of Prague is presenting two parallel exhibitions that will help the general public and the visitors know who this man was and what happened to his legendary creature, the Golem!

Černý’s back!

After unveiling his scandalous Entropa installation in Brussels last January, creating uproar throughout Europe and insult to the sense of European political correctness by depicting stereotypes of EU member states, notorious Czech artist David Černý strikes back with an exhibition at Prague's newest international gallery of contemporary art, Dvorak Sec Contemporary, on show until the end of September.
