Dochev’s industrial worlds

Peter Dochev’s name is associated with the birth and development of industrial landscape painting in Bulgarian art during the second half of the twentieth century. Commemorating the 75th anniversary of the artist’s birth, the Sofia City Art Gallery presents a retrospective exhibition aiming at giving a comprehensive idea of Peter Dochev’s work following his artistic evolution throughout the years. You can visit the exhibition until October 11, 2009.

Sofia's last 2009 live gigs

Sofia is a hot spot when it comes to live concerts. And it seems that Bulgarian concert-goers are always thirsty for new gigs since most of the lives scheduled for this season get sold-out within days of the pre-selling opening. Already half way through the second half of the year, Sofia lives in the Madonna mode. But after the great diva’s concert on August 29, gigs by famous artists continue. Some of them are Macy Gray, Mr Big, Cesaria Evora. Tarje Turunen, ZZ Top, Sylvie Vartan, Ojos de Brujo and what’s left of the legendary Boney M.

History told through insignia

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of Bulgaria's independence (September 22, 1908) the National Museum of History inaugurated an exhibition late last year that brings together more than 500 exhibits from Bulgarian museums, galleries, archives and libraries. The exhibition Symbols of Bulgarian Statehood is a good opportunity to get to know some very interesting chapters of Bulgarian history and a visit is highly recommended until the end of September 2009.
