Journey around the world in 80+1 days

Imagine it is 1872 and you are Phileas Fogg setting out on your Journey around the world in 80 days; the transport you rely on to win your bet comprises horses, railways, steamers, even a balloon. Can you make it? Inspired by Jules Verne’s classic, Ars Electronica, voestalpine and Linz09-Cultural Capital of Europe dispatch the city of Linz on a similar journey around the world. But this does not entail any physical travel; travel takes place via optical cables and satellite links, and the stops along the way will be 20 locations, each one of which stands for a theme of crucial importance to our future. Learn how you can join in from June 17 until September 5, 2009.
